ACERCA DE MI
D. P. SNYDER
Soy ante todo escritora, especializada en relatos breves, ensayos, entrevistas y crítica literaria. Estoy escribiendo una novela.
La traducción literaria es una forma especializada de escritura. Prefiero traducir literatura de México, Colombia, el Caribe y España, centrándome en obras literarias de mujeres y obras de importancia social. A veces traduzco letras de canciones, principalmente para el Festival de la Canción de Nueva York, lo que es muy divertido, sobre todo para una ex cantautora como yo.
En la década de 1990, fui codirectora del Taller Latinoamericano de Nueva York, una organización cultural sin ánimo de lucro en la que produjimos más de trescientas exposiciones de arte, lecturas y conciertos crossover con artistas como Philip Glass, Tico Da Costa, Pete Seeger, León Gieco, Papo Gely, Luis “El Terror” Días y David Byrne, entre muchos otros. Allí desarrollé mi ecléctico vocabulario español y aprendí sobre la producción de música y eventos.
Soy socia de la Asociación Americana de Traductores Literarios (ALTA), y formo parte del Consejo de Editores de Reading in Translation y del Comité de Traducción de PEN America.
Me licencié en Lengua y Literatura por la Universidad de Yale y recibí un Másters en Escritura Creativa por Sewanee: The University of the South. Soy alumna de la comunidad de escritores Bajo el Volcán, en Tepoztlán, México, y he estudiado arte narrativo y poesía con los escritores mexicanos Mónica Lavín, Jaime Mesa y David Huerta.
