I am a bilingual writer and translator from Spanish. My book-length translations include Scary Story by Alberto Chimal (Pamenar Press 2023), Arrhythmias by Angelina Muñiz-Huberman (Literal Publishing/Hablemos, escritoras 2022), Meaty Pleasures by Mónica Lavín (Katakana Editores 2021), and 33 Dreams by Juan Carlos Garvayo (Ibs International 2019).
I’ve published short stories, poems, and essay in translation in Ploughshares, Two Lines, Exile Quarterly, The Southern Review, The Georgia Review, Latin American Literature Today, World Literature Today, and elsewhere. Some are anthologized, including in Talking Books with Mario Vargas Llosa (Univ. of Nebrasks Press 2021), Daughters of Latin America (HarperCollins 2023), and Sundial Review: New Voices in Translation (Sundial House 2024). My translation of Mónica Lavin’s “Coyoacán a la carte” (WLT, Nov. 2022) was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
I contribute literary criticism and interviews to Reading in Translation, Review: Literature and Arts of the Americas, Asymptote, La Gaceta de Tucumán, and elsewhere.
Sometimes I write in Spanish.
My short fiction and essays in English have appeared in The Write Launch, East by Northeast Magazine, Parhelion, Fictive Dream, and Sojournal, among others; my stories and essays in Spanish have appeared in Luvina at the University of Guadalajara, Poetripiados, and El BeiSman. My story “La puerta secreta” was a finalist in the San Miguel Writers Conference International Short Story Competition (2020) and my essay Historia ósea: The Bone’s Story was a finalist in the 2021 Medium Essay Challenge.
I received my B.A. in Literature from Yale University and an M.F.A. from The University of the South. I am a member of the Under the Volcano writing community in Tepoztlán, Mexico.
